I’m a gamer, first and foremost. I’ve been a gamer for more than 40 years. It’s in my blood. And like many gamers, I have several campaigns that I would love to run; far too many for the limited time I have available. So I list them here. Maybe one day, I will have the chance to actually explore some of them.
Darkness Rising
System: d20 Modern/Pathfinder 1e
This one has been simmering on the burner for quite some time. The premise is that at some point in the recent past, Earth was invaded by a force from another world, an alternate dimension, to be exact. The invaders came in the darkness, their skin as black as ink, with hair of white. They wielded powerful abilities against which we had no defenses, and the fall was swift and nearly complete.
The drow elves invaded under the cover of darkness, striking quickly and efficiently. They disabled our military before we realized what was happening, and took our world without mercy. Now, they and their monstrous allies are the rulers of our world, but not everyone has succumbed.
The Resistance is comprised of those who have not given up hope, those who fight back! Along with allies taken from the very world the enemy originated from, they fight for the fate of two worlds!
Perpetual Twilight
System: Savage Worlds
Perpetual Twilight is a sci-fi campaign that has been kicking around my brain for some time. It is decidedly space fantasy, with all the trappings: two dozen alien races, laser swords, star knights, psionics, and robots. Foes would be larger than life, and the heroes would be given the opportunity to become even more! Expect starfaring, swashbuckling, laser-blasting action!
Savage Mars
System: Savage Worlds
Welcome to Mars! Not Mars as it is – airless, most likely lifeless, with only the faintest hints of what might have once been a damp, if not necessarily lush and living, world billions of years in the past. No, this is Mars as it should be and as it was once imagined to be – an ancient, dying, but not yet dead world, a world where a vast canal network reaches from pole to pole, bringing water and life to vast and fantastic cities. A Mars where albino apes run a vast empire in the last surviving jungle, a world where warrior tribes of Green Martians raid the outlying cities of the canal dwellers, a world where, in places dark and quiet and forgotten beneath the surface, ancient and terrible intellects plan dark and dire deeds. It is a Mars of sky-corsairs, of duels with blade and blaster, of vile plots, fantastic inventions, daring rescues, arena battles, and spectacular stunts. It is a Mars where ancient cities can be discovered and their lost treasures plundered, a Mars where a trek across the dry sea bottoms can yield amazing discoveries, and where terrible monsters roam the rocky wastes. It is the Mars of pulp fiction and Saturday morning serials. This is sword-and-planet fantasy at its best!
Love and War
System: Blue Rose
Love and War is a campaign set in Aldea, the world of Blue Rose, which uses the Adventure Game System (AGE). Blue Rose is a game of romantic fantasy, and Love and War would center around romance and warfare. I’ve not given it much thought, because I may never get to play it.
